About Unwinding

Unwinding is a uniquely configured Aventura 50MY and one of the most versatile bareboat powercats in the Virgin Charter Yachts fleet. She accommodates up to 12 guests in six double cabins with six heads, giving larger groups an unusual combination of sleeping capacity, privacy and generous indoor and outdoor living space.

For six couples, large families or multigenerational groups, the layout solves one of the biggest challenges when choosing a bareboat for 12 guests: everyone can have a private double cabin rather than relying on salon conversions or less desirable sleeping arrangements.

A Unique Six-Cabin Layout

The defining feature of Unwinding is her six-cabin, six-head configuration.

Rather than simply increasing the number of people the yacht can technically sleep, the layout provides six genuine double sleeping spaces for a group of up to 12. This makes Unwinding particularly appealing for groups of adults traveling together, as well as larger families who want more privacy during a week aboard.

Each cabin has access to its own head, making mornings and evenings considerably easier with a full group.

Designed for Larger Groups

A yacht that sleeps 12 also needs enough common space for 12 people to comfortably spend a week together, and this is where the Aventura 50 design works particularly well.

The large aft cockpit provides an outdoor dining and gathering area for meals and evenings aboard. From there, the yacht flows directly through the salon and galley to the forward deck, giving guests several different places to spend time throughout the day.

Having multiple social areas is particularly valuable with a larger group. Guests can gather together when they want to while still having plenty of opportunities to spread out.

Spacious Salon & Galley

The open-concept salon provides a large air-conditioned living and dining area surrounded by windows, creating a bright central gathering space aboard.

The galley is designed particularly well for provisioning a large group, with a full-size refrigerator/freezer, cooktop and convection microwave/oven. Having residential-style refrigeration and generous food-storage space makes a significant difference when provisioning for as many as 12 guests for a week.

Huge Flybridge & Outdoor Living

The flybridge is one of our favorite features aboard Unwinding and provides another major social area for a larger group.

There is ample seating around the helm so guests can enjoy cruising between islands together, along with separate areas for lounging and sunbathing. A wet bar, icemaker and grill make the flybridge useful throughout the day, whether the yacht is underway or sitting on a mooring.

At water level, the full-beam hydraulic swim platform provides convenient access for swimming and boarding the dinghy and creates another place for guests to enjoy being close to the water.

Power & Handling

Unwinding is powered by twin Yanmar 440 HP engines and is equipped with a bow thruster. The elevated flybridge helm provides excellent visibility while cruising and maneuvering.

An on-water checkout is included on the first day of every Virgin Charter Yachts bareboat charter to make sure guests are comfortable operating the yacht before beginning their week in the BVI.

Why We Recommend Unwinding

Unwinding’s six double cabins and six heads make her one of the easiest bareboat powercats for us to recommend when a group needs accommodations for 12.

What we particularly like is that the sleeping capacity doesn’t come at the expense of the social experience. The large aft cockpit, open salon and galley, forward seating area and expansive flybridge provide multiple places for a full group to spend time together or spread out throughout the day.

For six couples, large families and multigenerational groups of up to 12, Unwinding offers a combination of capacity, privacy and living space that is very difficult to find in a BVI bareboat powercat.
