Fountaine Pajot MY6
VCY recommends Blue Gypsea for three couples or families who want an exceptionally spacious powercat that is also easy to maneuver. The Fountaine Pajot MY6 features a huge primary suite occupying the entire port hull, two comfortable guest cabins in the starboard hull, plus a smaller fourth cabin that works particularly well for children. Volvo IPS engines with full joystick control makes Blue Gypsea one of our most user-friendly powercats for docking and close-quarters maneuvering.

About Blue GypSea
Calypso is a Fountaine Pajot MY6 with one of our favorite layouts for three couples and families. The yacht combines exceptional interior volume with a huge private primary suite, multiple indoor and outdoor living areas and Volvo IPS propulsion with full joystick control.
Although Calypso has four interior cabins, we think understanding the layout is important when deciding whether she is right for your group. For three couples, the accommodations work extremely well. For families, the smaller fourth cabin provides useful additional sleeping space for children.
An Exceptional Primary Suite
One of the standout features of the Fountaine Pajot MY6 is the full-hull primary suite.
The entire port hull is dedicated to the primary cabin and its large private head, creating a remarkably spacious and private accommodation for a powercat of this size. Rather than dividing the hull into multiple smaller cabins, Fountaine Pajot devoted the space to one substantial suite.
This is one of the reasons we particularly like this yacht for families and groups of three couples. One couple gets a genuinely impressive primary suite, while the remaining guest accommodations are located separately in the starboard hull.
Three Comfortable Guest Cabins
The starboard hull contains the remaining three cabins.
Two are comfortable double guest cabins that work very well for adult couples. The fourth interior cabin is considerably smaller, which is why we generally recommend it for children rather than another adult couple.
There are three heads aboard. The third head, used by the forward starboard cabin, is located at the base of the stairs rather than directly inside the cabin. This makes it convenient as a day head for everyone aboard while still serving the forward guest cabin.
For this reason, we think Calypso is particularly well suited to three couples, families or multigenerational groups, rather than four couples expecting four equivalent cabins and private en-suite heads.
Spacious Salon & Galley
The main salon is bright and exceptionally spacious, with large windows providing excellent visibility and natural light throughout the interior.
The open galley and salon create a comfortable central living area where the group can gather for meals, drinks or time inside in the air conditioning. Sliding doors connect the salon directly to the aft cockpit, allowing the indoor and outdoor areas to function together throughout the day.
The combination of the large salon and enormous primary suite gives the Fountaine Pajot MY6 a particularly spacious interior feel.
Flybridge & Outdoor Living
The flybridge is the primary outdoor dining and entertaining area aboard Calypso and one of our favorite features of the Fountaine Pajot MY6.
On the flybridge, a large dining table with seating for up to eight guests makes the flybridge a natural gathering place for outdoor meals, while additional seating and lounging areas give the group plenty of room to relax together while cruising between islands or enjoying time on a mooring.
At the bow, built-in seating provides another comfortable outdoor living area and a great place to enjoy the views while underway or relax at the end of the day.
Combined with the spacious interior salon, the flybridge and forward seating give guests several distinct areas to enjoy throughout their week in the BVI.
Volvo IPS Joystick Control
One of the features we particularly appreciate about [YACHT] is the Volvo IPS propulsion system with full joystick control.
The joystick allows the operator to control the yacht’s movement at low speeds and makes docking and close-quarters maneuvering remarkably intuitive for an experienced powerboat operator.
For guests moving up to a larger powercat, having joystick control can make maneuvering a yacht of this size considerably more comfortable.
An on-water checkout is included on the first day of every Virgin Charter Yachts bareboat charter to make sure guests are comfortable operating the yacht before beginning their week in the BVI.
Why We Recommend Calypso
Calypso is one of our favorite powercats for three couples and families because the layout uses the available space extremely well.
The enormous primary suite provides an unusually comfortable and private accommodation, while two additional double cabins work well for adult guests and the smaller fourth cabin provides excellent flexibility for families traveling with children.
Add the spacious salon, multiple outdoor living areas and Volvo IPS joystick control, and Calypso offers an excellent combination of comfort, privacy and easy handling for a week exploring the BVI.

Safety
This yacht is fitted with a water maker. Please note, water makers are very sensitive systems and they must be used in accordance with the instruction provided during your boat briefing. Watermakers cannot be run in shallow water, in marinas, underway or in Anegada. A watermaker is not considered 'essential equipment' and if it is not working at the time of your charter or fails during your charter, we can suggest multiple locations where you can purchase water during your charter and we will cover the cost.
